Audition Requirements & Application Forms
We will begin accepting applications on November 14, 2024
Application deadline is December 15, 2024
Applicants must complete the audition application in 2 steps:
STEP 1: Fill out the CO-LA 2025 Application Form with personal information.
STEP 2: Upload 3 audition videos as Unlisted YouTube Videos:
• Video1 - personal statement
• Video 2 - your choice of a solo piece
• Video 3 - the selected audition excerpt (see below for excerpt information)
• Now provide the 3 video links in the CO-LA 2025 Audition Video Form
Read the information listed below regarding the requirements for each of the three videos.
Applicants should first complete the CO-LA 2025 Application Form with their personal information.
After submitting this form they can upload their 3 audition videos using the CO-LA Audition Video Submission Form.

Personal Statement Video
(Required for All Students)
In a single, unedited video, please record yourself answering one of the three personal statement questions below in 90 seconds or less. Please begin your video by stating which question number you are answering. Answer specifically and express your unique perspective.
Option 1: How have you used, or how do you believe you can use your musical experience to shape the world around you? Give us a specific example of this and explain how it has or could impact the people that surround you.
Option 2: What are some of the skills, lessons, and values you've learned from studying music that will help your be successful in the life you envision?
Option 3: Who is someone that inspires you, musically or as a person? Tell us about why this musical/person inspires you, and what you have learned about this person's ability to create inspiration through their work.
Instrumental Audition Videos
(Required for All Students)
The musical audition is comprised of two videos:
1. Solo piece of your choice
Please provide 3-5 minutes of a concerto or solo work of your choosing.
2. Assigned music excerpts
The following links will provide information on Required Excerpts specifically for your instrument.
Instructions for the solo piece and excerpts video:
• Perform the excerpts in order in one continuous take, with no editing, splicing, titles, or transitions.
• Please do not speak at any point during your recording.
• Ensure that your recording device is positioned about 10 feet away to capture a balanced sound.
• Make sure both you and your instrument are in full view, unobstructed by your music stand.
NOTE: If you are applying for Piccolo, English Horn, Eb Clarinet, Bass Clarinet or Contrabassoon please see the excerpts and instructions in the excerpt packets and submit a second excerpt video in addition to the main instrument video.
